THRIVE CONNECTION / OCTOBER 2026

A stronger community is built through many kinds of participation. Supporting New Narrative can mean a financial gift, a useful introduction, time, professional expertise, or helping someone better understand mental health and recovery.

Give in a way that fits

Financial contributions help sustain New Narrative’s work across mental health care, peer support, housing, and connection. A one-time gift or ongoing support can be one way to take part.

Explore giving to New Narrative.

Start a conversation about practical support

If you are interested in volunteering, contributing requested items, or sharing a professional skill, contact New Narrative’s Development Team before making arrangements. Needs and opportunities change, and coordination helps ensure that an offer matches the people and programs it is intended to support.

Community organizations and businesses can also contribute through partnerships. A thoughtful introduction or a conversation about a shared goal may be the beginning of a lasting relationship.

Help build understanding

Sharing accurate information, listening to people with lived experience, and challenging assumptions can help create a community where people feel heard and included.

There is no single way to contribute. Thank you for considering how your resources, relationships, and perspective can help make more possibilities available.

Match the offer with a useful next step

It can help to begin with two questions: what are you comfortable offering, and what does the receiving team actually need? A clear answer to both creates a stronger starting point than an assumption that any contribution will fit.

For a group, a short conversation about timing and capacity can prevent confusion later. Let the team know whether you are considering a one-time effort, an ongoing relationship, or an idea that still needs shaping. A small, well-defined contribution can be easier to coordinate than a large project without clear arrangements.

Coordinate items before organizing a collection

Requested items, acceptable condition, and handoff arrangements should be confirmed before you ask others to contribute. Program locations may have different space and staffing constraints. Please do not assume that a public office address is also an unrestricted donation drop-off.

The same principle applies to an offer of time or expertise. Ask about the current process rather than announcing an activity or promising a volunteer date before the team has agreed.

Keep people’s choice at the center

Support for an organization should respect the agency and privacy of the people it serves. A contribution does not require someone to share their personal history, appear in a photograph, or become the subject of a public story.

When sharing New Narrative’s work, use accurate information and direct people toward the organization’s current resources. Making space to listen is part of building understanding, alongside any financial or practical contribution.
