On August 13th, NorthStar Clubhouse hosted a fundraising telethon that raised over $15,000!
Hosted and celebrated by members, the telethon featured member stories and talents — ranging from macramé art to comedy to violin performance. These talents showcased the diverse people and perspectives that make up the community that NorthStar serves. We had a wonderful time bringing a little bit of NorthStar to you.
NorthStar Clubhouse is the only clubhouse model in the Portland metro area designed as a vocational and social rehabilitation program for those with a mental health diagnosis.
NorthStar is all about combating isolation, and that hasn’t changed during quarantine.
LIZ WRIGHT
Clubhouse director Liz Wright says NorthStar is all about combating isolation, and that hasn’t changed during quarantine. The Clubhouse is using Zoom for their daily meetings and now as a fundraising tool to meet their goals.
With the telethon, the Clubhouse reached into the homes of its community across the county and connected in a vulnerable, meaningful way. Forty-eight people attended in person, while donations poured in from more than six states!
In uncertain times like these, we can’t help but be grateful for the constant dedication to NorthStar from its members and community. Your compassionate support truly makes a difference, especially when we all need to work together (yet apart!) for the collective good.
