Turn an unused vehicle into support for mental health, housing, and hope.
Do you have a car you no longer need? Turn it into something truly valuable by donating it to New Narrative. Your donation helps fund critical mental health services, housing support, and employment assistance for people working toward stability and independence.
We will help make the process quick, easy, and stress-free. Donated vehicles are sold at auction, and the proceeds go directly to New Narrative programs and services for people struggling with the effects of mental health challenges. Your gift will make a big difference—and may qualify for a tax deduction.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I donate my vehicle to New Narrative?
It’s simple:
- Tell us about your vehicle. Complete the short form above.
- We confirm the details. We will review your information and contact you about the required paperwork.
- Schedule your pickup. New Narrative’s vehicle donation partner, Speed’s Towing, will arrange pickup of your vehicle.
- Your vehicle supports a better future. After pickup, the vehicle is sold at auction and the proceeds are sent to New Narrative.
Prefer to contact the vehicle donation team directly? Email donations@speedstowingpdx.com or call 503-270-5356 or 503-234-5555, option 4.
What paperwork do I need to get started?
New Narrative may accept your vehicle for donation if the title is clear of all liens, your name is on the front of the title, and you have signed where indicated to release your interest in the vehicle.
The required documents must be printed and completed so they can be collected with the vehicle and title. Scanned copies and electronic signatures cannot be accepted. When filling out the bill of sale and title, print and sign your name as the seller, but do not add dates or buyer information.
What if the vehicle title is missing or lost?
In Oregon:
- For a 2011 or newer vehicle, you will need to obtain a replacement title and contact us once you have it.
- For a 2010 or older vehicle registered in Oregon, you may obtain a vehicle information printout and an application for replacement title from the Oregon DMV. These documents may be accepted in place of the title.
In Washington: You will need either a replacement title or an affidavit in lieu of title.
Does my vehicle have to be running?
No. We can consider vehicles that are not running. The vehicle must be complete enough to be safely towed. Share its current condition in the intake form so the donation team can confirm eligibility and pickup details.
Do I need to be present when my vehicle is picked up?
No. Pickups are generally scheduled Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. If you cannot be present, the donation team will provide special instructions for leaving the paperwork and keys.
For vehicles outside a 30-mile radius of the Portland metro area, Speed’s Towing generally schedules pickups in pairs. You will be contacted when a second vehicle has been identified in your area.
What happens after pickup?
Your vehicle will be sold as-is at an auto auction, and the proceeds will be sent to New Narrative. Because the vehicle is sold at auction, it may not reach Kelley Blue Book or NADA appraised value.
When notifying the appropriate state motor vehicle agency of your donation, use “Speed’s Towing on consignment” as the buyer/transferee.
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes. You will receive a temporary receipt for your records. Within 30 days of the vehicle’s sale, New Narrative will mail you a final receipt that includes the sale price received at auction.
What can I claim as a tax deduction?
New Narrative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 93-0685734. Please consult IRS Publication 4303, “A Donor’s Guide to Vehicle Donations”, or your tax advisor to determine the amount you may claim.
What your donation supports
Your donation goes straight to ensuring that people seeking mental health care have what they need to thrive in the community, not just survive in the system. Vehicle donations help fund mental health services, housing support, peer programs, and employment assistance for people creating new paths toward stability and independence.
